In addition to working with live recording, Wiegmann Productions works with more controlled, studio recorded projects. Among the many such projects are included voice-over-music type radio ads, solo instrument and voice, classical trios, and full bands. For the latter, we are able to go mobile, making the recording process easier on the musician. Most musicians would prefer to play on their own instruments, where they are accustomed to practicing and feel at home. We chose this option for recording drums, and drum/bass/guitar "cores" to songs in order to maximize the comfort level of the musicians, and keep our overhead as low as possible. Many bands and groups feature their own websites. As an additional service to our clients, we can convert any song on cassette, DAT, or CD to Mp3 format for upload to a website. Additionally, we will link to your site (with a reciprocal link) and feature any shows we're recording on the calendar page of this site. For all on-site recording, Wiegmann Productions uses a 32 channel Allen and Heath GL330 Mixing console. In addition , we provide 1 16-bit and two 20-bit ADAT digital recorders for a total of 24 tracks. These recordings can be made compatible with older, "blackface ADATs" if you want to mix the material at an alternate facility. We link into the Front-of-house snake with a 24 channel isolated and ground lifted splitter snake, giving us our own feeds to the recorder, and insuring no interference with the main sound. As if that weren't enough, Wiegmann Productions has a great set of microphones, stands, and cables, to supplement what the sound company provides, or to record your music in your living room, or practice area. We also have the ability to add overdubs and additional vocals in-studio. Recording live shows in multitrack format allows for much greater control over the final sound quality. The products produced in this manner sound more professional because, unlike DAT recordings, one can mix, equalize, add reverb or delay, make decisions regarding each instrument before you commit music to two tracks. |
